Development Topics

The following topics can be customized to meet the needs of the client. The client can request a training class, consulting, and/or individual coaching.

Leadership Training

This training is designed for anyone who wants to be an effective leader.  It is presented in six, 4-hour sessions.  The program follows Mary Beth’s philosophy that “leadership is a state of mind, not a position in life.”  Following are the titles for each session.

  1. Leadership Foundation and Teambuilding 
  2. Understanding Ourselves and Others through Personality Profile
  3. Coaching and Listening
  4. Delegation and Establishing Performance Expectations
  5. Giving and Receiving Constructive and Positive Feedback
  6. Goal Setting and Commitment Process to Apply Content of the Program

This program is customized to meet the needs and leadership level of each group

Presentation Skills Training*

Participants attending this class will learn to:

  • Recognize their strengths as a presenter
  • Prepare and organize the content to communicate a clear and concise message to the audience
  • Highlight six ways to get and keep the attention of the audience
  • Reduce the presentation anxiety and speak with confidence and credibility
  • Think and speak on their feet with ease
  • Practice the art of storytelling
  • Create visual aids that will enhance the presentation and improve delivery skills
  • Manage possible unexpected situations while presenting
  • Lead an effective question and answer session
  • Learn how to persuade others to action
  • Project professionalism, confidence and enthusiasm


Audience:  Anyone who wants to take their presentation and communication skills to a higher level. 

*This class can be converted to a Train the Trainer program

Duration: Two days


Meeting Life's Demands

This class helps participants manage time and stress in their lives by:

  • Defining stress and what causes it
  • Understanding the physical effects of stress
  • Recognizing the stressors in their lives
  • Gaining proper perspective of their situations
  • Determining ways to eliminate stress
  • Recognizing the relationship between stress level and time management
  • Focusing on the end result and keeping an eye on the big picture
  • Aligning your daily schedules with values and goals
  • Looking at a process to prioritize events important to your values and goals
  • Identifying when to say “no”
  • Knowing how and when to delegate or ask for help
  • Using Microsoft Outlook as a planning tool
  • Understanding Outlook tools to assist with planning and manage information overload
  • Making a specific commitment to meet life’s demands more effectively

Audience: Anyone who wants to manage their life more effectively and reduce stress.

Duration: One day


Interpersonal Efectiveness

Participants attending this class will: 

  • Gain proper perspective when dealing with difficult people situations
  • Gain greater understanding of self and others through learning their personality preference
  • Understand how individuals process information and communicate differently
  • Know how people with opposite work habits can accomplish the same goal
  • Understand the value of having a leadership mindset, regardless of their position in the company
  • Communicate more assertively, which includes listening more effectively
  • Recognize the steps to an essential conversation and plan an essential conversation
  • Practice a technique to disagree agreeably
  • Discuss 30 tried and proven principles for dealing effectively with others

Audience: Anyone who wants to enhance their relationships and get results through understanding and communicating with others more effectively.

Duration: One day


Meetings and Problem Solving

Participants attending this workshop will improve their meeting and problem solving skills by:     

  • Determining and eliminating meeting time wasters
  • Knowing how to prepare properly for a meeting
  • Learning guidelines to lead a meeting skillfully
  • Managing disruptive behavior during a meeting
  • Discussing ways to participate more effectively in a meeting
  • Becoming aware of the role creativity plays in problem solving
  • Recognizing a proven five-step technique to define the problem correctly
  • Discovering ways not to get bogged down in negativity
  • Knowing how to stay focused on solutions
  • Practicing the problem solving process
  • Discussing ways to be sure the solution is transferred to action
  • Committing to effective meeting and problem solving techniques

Duration: One day

Audience: Anyone who leads and/or attends meetings; anyone who needs to logically and efficiently solve problems.


Building a Stronger Team

In this interactive workshop participants will: 

  • Understand their effectiveness as a team member by learning their personality preferences through the Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator® (MBTI)
  • Realize how personality type affects communication
  • Determine why some people are more detailed and some people are bigger picture in their thinking
  • Discover how their personality plays a part in decision making
  • Recognize how team members with different work habits can work toward the same goals successfully
  • Learn how personality type awareness creates the opportunity to value diversity within the team
  • Develop a plan to build on team strengths and improve team weaknesses

Audience: Any group of individuals who work together and/or individuals who lead teams. The content will be customized to meet the needs of the team

Duration: One 8-hour session or two 4-hour sessions
